Widows
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself un-spotted from the world. (James 1:27)The blessing of a perishing man came upon me, and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy. (Job 29:13) He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing. (Deuteronomy 10:18) The Lord will destroy the house of the proud. But He will establish the boundary of the widow. (Proverbs 15:25) The Lord watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; But thew way of the wicked He turns upside down. (Psalm 146;9) For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is His name; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth. (Isaiah 54:5) A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. But she is happier if she remains as she is, according to my judgment -- and I think I also have the Spirit of God. (1 Corinthians 7:39, 40) I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. (John 14:18) A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. (Psalm 68:5) He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (Psalm 147:3) Cursed is the one who perverts the justice due the stranger, the fatherless and widow. (Deuteronomy 27:19) Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. (Hebrews 13:15) Low, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20) Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. (John 16:22) |
