Carnality
To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it si not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:6-8)He who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. (Galatians 6:8) Adulterers and adultreresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. (James 4:4) There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. (Proverbs 14:12) Many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame -- who set their mind on earthly things. (Philippians 3:18, 19) No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteous, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy 2:4, 22) Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 2:5) Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:2) Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul. (1 Peter 2:11) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1, 2) Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world -- the lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life -- is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:15-17) |
